Did you ever wonder what happens when you bring together singers of all ages to sing their hearts out? I discovered the answer to that question: Magic!
As we posted two weeks ago, five area high schools, along with local barbershop quartets, the Gold Standard Chorus of Santa Cruz, and an International Youth Champion barbershop quartet, would come together for the annual choir festival, Sing For Your Life. I was there to cover it from start to finish for Bay Area Non-Profit News, and I was not disappointed. See for yourself!
This year’s SFYL participating high schools are:
- Georgina Bruce Kirby School – Treble Choir directed by Alex Koppel
- St. Francis Catholic High School – Choir directed by Dan DeWig
- Pacific Collegiate Charter – Bella Voce directed by Alice Hughes
- San Lorenzo Valley High School – Choir directed by Dan Lingenfelter
- Scotts Valley High School – Choir directed by Beth Hollenbeck
In addition the the choirs, performing guest artists are:
- The Humming Honeys from Scotts Valley High School
- Premium Blend quartet
- Seaside quartet
- Flightline, Barbershop Harmony Society International Youth Gold Medal Champions 2017
